Introduction
Introduction The Sales Representative – Agriculture is responsible for the effective management of existing customers and for providing excellent customer service atall times. The role focuses on building a strong sales pipeline of potential new customers (“hunting”) with an agreed conversion rate, and on identifyingnew product development opportunities in collaboration with the New Business Development team. The incumbent is also accountable for fulfillingmarketing and public relations functions, ensuring efficient sales administration and internal liaison, and for maintaining compliance with Mpact’s Safety,Health, and Environmental (SHE) policies and standards.
Job description

  1. Sales Growth: Jumbo Bins and Agriculture
  • Manage allocated Key Account customers in line with agreed KPIs.
  • Actively generate new business from existing and potential Key Account customers as per agreed KPIs.
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of new customers and convert these into Mpact customers within agreed timelines.
  • Promote Mpact products through proactive engagement, opportunity identification, and professional proposals.
  • Close new business opportunities effectively.
  • Provide high-quality after-sales service to ensure customer satisfaction, retention, and growth.
  • Promote new product applications through solution-based selling.
 
 2. Customer Service
  • Maintain professional, positive relationships with all customers at all times.
  • Service existing and potential customers through regular contact and personal visits, as per agreed KPIs.
  • Address and resolve customer complaints and product issues promptly, taking corrective action where required.
  • Provide customers with timely technical or product-related support when needed.
  • Stay informed on industry developments, trends, and competitor activities.
3. New Product Development
  • Identify new product opportunities and collaborate with the New Business Development team.
  • Introduce potential new customers and facilitate meetings with them.
  • Assist with the design and development of new products as required.
  • Track and communicate progress on new product developments to customers.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to expand Mpact’s product range to remain competitive and drive business growth.
4. Marketing and Public Relations
  • Maintain strong product knowledge to effectively promote Mpact products.
  • Implement marketing interventions within the allocated area or market.
  • Arrange factory tours and promotional events as required and authorized.
  • Coordinate and assist with product exhibitions and trade shows.
  • Represent Mpact professionally in all marketing and public-facing activities.

5. Sales Administration and Liaison
  • Monitor the weekly Production Plan to align sales priorities and delivery deadlines.
  • Liaise with Dispatch and Logistics to ensure timely deliveries.
  • Maintain and update the CRM system as per agreed standards.
  • Follow up on back-orders, cancelled orders, and credits to ensure timely resolution.
  • Manage and update price lists according to company procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records, filing systems, and correspondence standards.
  • Control and account for sample stock as per procedure.
  • Prepare annual budgets per product and customer in line with company requirements.
  • Participate in internal conferences and deliver presentations as required.
  • Manage debtors weekly and ensure adherence to agreed KPIs.

Minimum requirements

Education:
  • Grade 12 certificate with Mathematics.
  • Tertiary qualification in Agriculture, Sales, or a related field (preferred).
 
Work Experience:
  • Previous experience selling capital agricultural products, such as fruit crates or similar.
  • Experience with fruit packaging solutions and knowledge of relevant agricultural markets.
 
Skills & Competencies:
  • Strong sales and negotiation skills.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain client relationships.
  • Knowledge of agricultural supply chains and customer requirements in the fruit/produce sector.
  • Ability to travel within Limpopo and Mpumalanga provinces.
